In Grand Theft Auto Online, players can freely explore the world alone or with friends, complete missions in co-op, team up and participate in various events together, or play in traditional modes with the community. And all this works within the framework of the gameplay mechanics of Grand Theft Auto V.

Players can invest money in their hero, customizing his appearance, improving the hero's characteristics, buying unique cars, private property, completing various tasks, earning reputation and money to open up new opportunities and move up the criminal ladder. The world of Grand Theft Auto Online will constantly grow and change with the addition of new content.

What awaits players in GTA Online

  • Up to 16 people can be in the world at the same time;
  • Chaos and crime in the open world: players will be able to act alone or with friends, ride mountain bikes, shoot at shooting galleries, rob shops and armored vans for cash and reputation;
  • Work: players will be able to complete missions and third-party tasks, unite in teams of mercenaries and degenerates to play together;
  • Racing: GTA Online features classic street racing, off-road racing, water racing, airplane racing and more. Take part in the frantic GTA Race mode or the more familiar Rally mode, where one player acts as a co-driver while the other controls the car at high speed;
  • Sports: with friends you can play tennis, golf, skydiving and other sports, earning money and reputation;
  • Customization: Players will be able to create their own characters in the Character Creator tool, then earn some money to spend on new clothes and other items. You can also collect and customize cars by storing them in your garage. Your own weapons also undergo detailed customization;
  • Money and reputation: reputation is earned through various online activities and opens access to new opportunities, weapons, and criminal contacts. The cash received can be spent on buying cars, clothes, weapons, real estate and much more. You can earn money by robbing armored cars, winning street races and other competitions. If you are too lazy to participate in competitions, then game currency can be purchased for real money. The developers note that the game economy is built in such a way that ordinary mortals who do not want to buy game currency with their hard-earned money will in no way suffer from the actions of the rich. You don't need real money to purchase cars, weapons, clothes and other things, but if you want to get them faster, then pay. The developers also emphasize that the economies of GTA 5 and GTA Online are structured completely differently, so those who had a hard time earning money in GTA 5 will be able to quickly earn it in GTA Online;
  • Pains of change: you need to understand that in the first days, players will experience glitches, bugs, crashes and other joys inherent in early versions of online games. This is inevitable, but the developers will try to fix them as quickly as possible. And they will need your help.

Former Rockstar President Leslie Benzies on GTA Online

Thoughts about this appeared during the development of GTA 3, and every game we said to ourselves “now we’ll do this.” But, putting my hand on my heart, I can say that at that time we did not have enough strength and technical capabilities for this. And now the time has come.

GTA Online preview

GTA Online is something different, something more that completely changes the way GTA is played. GTA 5 is just a starting point with no multiplayer mode. GTA Online is a completely new project and the biggest event since GTA 3.

Joint recreation and gangs

Grand Theft Auto Online players can spend time together participating in various activities, playing golf and tennis, going to the cinema, participating in robberies, escaping from the police, participating in various activities, including racing, death matches, missions and other game formats , create gangs, visit each other, use illegal substances, as well as steal cars and create total mayhem. And that's not all!

Working in GTA Online

Jobs are missions in GTA Online that users are free to complete alone or with other session members. The works stand apart from the main story missions of GTA Online; they feel much closer to competitive multiplayer. Doing work will help you earn money and advance in GTA Online. The works present several modes, they can be accessed at several points on the map, which are marked with blue icons. Players can create their own works using the content editor and play through them with friends.

Free game (Freemode)

Free Play mode first appeared in Grand Theft Auto 4 and its expansion episodes, but in GTA Online the whole concept has been significantly rethought and improved.

Unlike GTA 4, where the host player could customize various Free Play settings, Free Play cannot be changed in GTA Online. The capabilities of the police and all other aspects of the game world are predetermined by the developers, and players must accept this.

The entire single player campaign area is fully accessible in this base mode. In different places of this world there are special markers for events, tasks and various activities.

However, all tasks and cases take place in separate sessions. Thus, the free play world is something of a hub, a lobby. This is a conditional buffer between different game modes, where 30 people can simultaneously stay on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and 16 people on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

While playing Free Mode, users can not only visit markers, but also spend cash in shops and special places. For example, they can purchase a wide variety of property: garages, apartments, entire houses and land plots. Moreover, all property is available in all free play sessions.

After the release of the Freemode Events Update, the game added an event system. Every 6 hours in a session, one of the random events occurs, which have their own conditions, goals and rewards.

Deathmatch

The main idea of all types of shootings is the rivalry of some players with others. Within the framework of children's match there are many sub-modes, each of which has its own rules and its own specifics. However, one way or another, the whole action comes down to killing each other to earn victory points.

Racing

Like deathmatch, racing is not uniform. Their formats may differ significantly from each other due to differences in available technology and other features.

Capture

Unlike deathmatch, the main goal is not to kill the enemy, but to capture a certain object (cargo, vehicle) or position on the map. However, subtypes of capture are almost always associated with cruelty and violence: players are forced to fight to the death in order to achieve their objectives.

Survival

The most popular PvE mode, in which players, united in a team of up to 4 people, must survive for a long time, divided into waves. At the beginning of each wave, opponents appear on the map, and it is they who need to be neutralized in order to move on to the next stage.

Parachuting

One of the sports available in GTA Online, which can be separated into a separate mode due to the presence of a full-fledged game element, a whole list of locations and special mechanics. While skydiving, players must complete various objectives regarding getting into special zones. The sharper the landing, the higher the result.

Adversary Modes

A whole collection of different PvP modes, most of which cannot be clearly attributed to the basic types of work in the game. This is the most extensive type of activity, including many sub-modes.

Missions

In GTA Online, missions are in many ways similar to those found in single player mode. The player's tasks include completing special assignments. Some involve delivering cargo, others require finding a special person.

Heists

An analogue of raids and dungeons from classic MMORPGs. Heists are a whole series of tasks that ultimately lead players to a big jackpot. This is the most profitable game mode, but at the same time the most difficult and demanding of skills and understanding of the game.

Real estate, transport and money

Money holds a special place in any GTA game. No money — no car, no cool mansion.

Weapons and armor

The base edition of Grand Theft Auto 5 had 30 weapons, while the special and collector's editions had an additional 3 weapons. The standard set includes 21 firearms, 5 melee weapons, 4 throwing weapons and a can of gasoline.

As for armor, there are 5 types of armor in GTA Online, each of which has its own protection rating and price. All types of armor provide protection from all types of damage: explosions, gunshot wounds, blows and falls. Sometimes armor can be found in Los Santos and other regions of the game world, but it is much easier to purchase it in the Ammu-Nation store.
