Rockstar Games has pulled the official Red Dead Redemption 2 companion app from Google Play and the App Store. The app, which hadn’t received updates in a long time, was originally released in 2018 and served mainly as an interactive map—allowing players to set waypoints, check Arthur’s journal, and manage inventory from their phone.
The removal took place on August 19, 2025, but it went largely unnoticed at first. New users can no longer download the app.
No official reason for the removal was given, but Rockstar’s support team clarified that those who previously downloaded the app can still access it through their account’s purchase history.
The companion app only worked with last-gen consoles. Some users speculate that its removal could be related to a possible upcoming release of an updated version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Rumors of a next-gen upgrade for the game—with full PS5 and Xbox Series X/S support—were recently backed by insider Nate the Hate.
