The adventure action game MindsEye, developed under the direction of Leslie Benzies—one of the key producers behind the Grand Theft Auto series—has just launched. Despite the high-profile name attached to the project, early Steam reviews have been mixed.

Currently, MindsEye holds a user rating of just 40% on Steam, reflecting a sharp sense of disappointment among players. According to gamers, the game suffers from major performance issues, poorly implemented car physics, underwhelming gunplay, and a limited set of gameplay mechanics.

At launch, the game peaked at around 3,300 concurrent players.

MindsEye’s story unfolds in the high-tech metropolis of Redrock. The main character, Jacob Diaz—a former special forces operative with a neural implant—is on a quest to recover his lost memories and unravel the mysteries of his past. Along the way, players will face a machine uprising, a war for control over artificial intelligence, and a clash with a billionaire intent on reshaping the world in his own image.

The developers aimed for a cinematic experience and intense combat sequences, but based on initial feedback, the execution appears to have fallen short of expectations.
