Release of Max Payne Remake Trailers Depends on Rockstar, Remedy Confirms

Remedy Entertainment has stated that the marketing campaign and trailer release for the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes are entirely in the hands of the publisher—Rockstar Games. This was confirmed by Remedy CEO Tero Virtala during a call with investors following the company’s latest quarterly report.

The project is currently in active development and, according to Remedy, is “making excellent progress.” However, when asked whether a trailer might be released in 2025, Virtala gave a brief response: “Max Payne Remake will be published by Rockstar Games and all the communications, marketing, is in their hands and we are not commenting anything on that.”

In other words, Rockstar alone will decide when and what will be shown regarding the project. It was previously reported that Rockstar is fully funding and publishing the remakes.

Given the planned release of GTA 6 in 2025 and the possible launch of the Max Payne remakes in 2026, the announcement could be delayed until after GTA’s marketing campaign concludes. However, as analysts note, predicting Rockstar’s actions is never easy.
