According to dataminer Tez2, Rockstar Games is working on its own roleplay (RP) multiplayer platform that will replace FiveM and serve as a key tool for user-generated content in the GTA series. The new platform may be called Rockstar Online Modding Engine (ROME).

Reportedly, the new GTA platform will focus on RP and community projects, offering the ability to create and run custom multiplayer scenarios and modes. Evidence of its development includes API endpoints related to "soundstage," such as soundstage.cloud.rockstargames.com, soundstage.creative, soundstage.scapi, and others — all of which went live on September 24.

In the past, Rockstar effectively shut down certain RP projects, but the changes now seem much broader. For example, the recently announced partnership with NoPixel and the integration of its NoPixel 5 update through the Rockstar Launcher may signal that RP is becoming part of the official ecosystem. The launch of ROME suggests Rockstar is looking to take control and integrate RP within its platform rather than leaving it solely in the realm of mods. This could provide teams with automated tools for modding, server hosting, and integration with GTA’s official infrastructure.

Interestingly, other community members also discovered a file named rdr-soundstage.ros.rockstargames.com, which may hint at upgrades coming to Red Dead Redemption Online.

As for GTA 6, not all actors from GTA V are eagerly awaiting the game — for instance, Trevor’s actor admitted he doesn’t feel much hype about it.
