Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to be one of the most significant releases in years, and Rockstar clearly has sky-high ambitions. This week, fans noticed a new job listing for a lead engineer to help prepare for the game’s rollout.

What caught the most attention was the description, where Rockstar flat-out refers to the upcoming release as “the largest game launch in history.” And it’s hard to argue: few titles — not even Minecraft — can rival the cultural footprint of Grand Theft Auto.

“With the continued growth of Grand Theft Auto Online and the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the successful candidate will lead both the evolution and operation of the data platform supporting what will be the largest game launch in history, ensuring it scales to deliver an exceptional experience for millions of players worldwide,” the posting reads.

The big question left is: how much will the game cost? The standard edition of GTA 6 is expected to retail for around $80, but some analysts believe the price could climb as high as $100.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on May 26, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. According to insider Tez2, the wanted system in the new game will undergo major changes.
