According to reliable journalist and insider Tom Henderson, releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 in May 2026 may not be the best business move. He believes Rockstar Games could push the launch back once more in order to maximize profits.

Sharing his thoughts on the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast, Henderson expressed concern that May isn’t the most profitable release window. Instead, he argued, it would make more sense to schedule the premiere for October, just ahead of the holiday season when players are more willing to spend money. To avoid fueling speculation, he clarified that this is purely his opinion and not based on any inside information from Rockstar.

As of now, GTA 6 is slated for release on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. No PC version has been announced yet.

For the moment, there’s no indication that the game will actually be delayed — Take-Two’s CEO remains confident that the title will ship on time. Meanwhile, parts of the indie scene have already dubbed the project the first-ever “AAAAA game,” predicting it will shake up the entire industry.
