Rumor: GTA 6 may let artists upload exclusive music directly into the game

A long-standing rumor about Drake getting his own radio station in GTA 6 might actually be true. On a recent episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast, Grammy-winning producer Jermaine Dupri said he was approached to work on Grand Theft Auto and mentioned Drake by name.

You can hear the GTA-related segment around the 6:45 mark. Dupri didn’t specifically mention GTA 6 or Rockstar Games, but the context suggests he was talking about the upcoming title.

“They asked me to do Grand Theft Auto, and they were saying like Drake got his own radio station on Grand Theft Auto. The way that they are getting ready to do it is that Drake can actually upload music that we probably ain’t never even heard online or wherever else, on that video game,” Dupri said during the podcast.

If true, it sounds like GTA 6 could become another platform for celebrity crossovers — and not just as a marketing tool, but also as a way for artists to premiere unreleased music directly in-game. It’s a model we’ve already seen in Fortnite, which hosted virtual concerts for Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, and Eminem.

For now, though, take this with a grain of salt. It’s not an official announcement, and there’s precedent for music collabs not panning out — years ago, artist Kavinsky hinted that his tracks would be in GTA 5, but they never made it into the game.

GTA 6 is set to launch on May 26, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
