Obbe Vermeij, former technical director at Rockstar North, believes Rockstar shouldn’t release a second trailer for GTA 6, despite the high expectations from fans. According to Vermeij, the game already has plenty of hype, and the element of surprise would make the launch an even bigger event.

“If it was my call I wouldn't release any additional trailers. There is more than enough hype around VI and the element of surprise is going to make the release only bigger as an event,” Vermeij wrote on his X page.

The first trailer, which introduced protagonists Jason and Lucia as well as a modern-day Vice City, debuted at the end of 2023. Since then, Rockstar hasn’t shared any new materials, prompting concerns among fans about a possible delay. The game is currently slated for release in fall 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Vermeij also pointed out that a similar delay happened with GTA 4, when the game was postponed just months before its expected launch. He believes a similar decision could be made for GTA 6 closer to August, when Take-Two is set to announce its earnings. However, the publisher maintains that the game is still on track for a 2025 release, and a delay to 2026 is unlikely.
