Digital Foundry shared its opinion on the technologies presented in Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced. According to experts, Rockstar Games has thus tested the functions for GTA 6.

Among other things, Ray-Traced Global Illumination (RTGI) was added to the enhanced version of GTA 5, which is surprisingly well optimized right down to the detail of reflections. On the RTX 4060 using DLSS 3, at a resolution of 1440p and with settings on Ultra, the game produces a stable 60 FPS, according to Digital Foundry. As experts noted, this level of optimization is suitable for current-generation consoles.

The general opinion is that similar technologies can be seen in Grand Theft Auto 6. As Digital Foundry stated, too much work has been done on global illumination for a simple update of a ten-year-old game (we are talking about the PC version). It is likely that Rockstar Games is preparing to implement the technology for GTA 6, and GTA 5 Enhanced simply became a testing ground.

Recall that the other day, the improved version of Grand Theft Auto 5 received a fix that solved the problem with FPS drops. As for GTA 6, there have recently been new rumors about the cost of the action game.
