Former Rockstar developer explains why GTA series games are delayed on PC

Recently, Mike York, a former Rockstar employee who worked on the creation of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, shared why GTA 6 is likely not to be released simultaneously on PC and consoles.
The first reason, according to the former Rockstar staff member, is sales, which are typically more substantial on consoles.
The second reason is the developers' desire to optimize the PC version for all possible hardware configurations. Thus, they require additional time not only to make a quality port but also to introduce various graphical enhancements. After that comes the testing process, which in the case of the PC version takes more time than on consoles.
Moreover, Mike York claims that Rockstar's PC game versions always exist initially, and it is on them that the console builds are based. However, the polishing of the game for personal computers often occurs only after the project is fully optimized for PlayStation and Xbox.
GTA 6 will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025. As for the PC release, the developers have not officially announced this version of the game yet. Recall that the GTA 5 port for personal computers was released almost two years after the release on PS3 and Xbox 360.
