Rockstar Games Bans GTA 5 Mod Bringing Liberty City to the Game
In early January, we reported on the full release of a large-scale mod for GTA 5 called the Liberty City Preservation Project. This mod brought the city of Liberty City into the game, complete with NPCs, vehicles, a functioning subway, radio stations from GTA 4, an HD texture pack, a radar, police, and road traffic. Recently, it was revealed that Rockstar Games decided to ban this project.
This was announced on Discord by one of the mod's creators, known as nkjellman.
"Due to the unexpected attention that our project received and after speaking with Rockstar Games, we have decided to take down the Liberty City Preservation project. We appreciate all the support the project has received, and we look forward to continuing to pursue our passion for modding the Grand Theft Auto series", — the modder stated.
The Liberty City Preservation Project mod was created by the World Travel team.
Players predictably reacted negatively to the mod's closure but were not surprised by the decision, as Rockstar Games has previously banned similar projects.
Some gamers believe that Rockstar Games may release a remaster of GTA 4 in the future, which could be the reason for shutting down the mod featuring the city from this game. However, for now, this is just speculation.
