Dan Houser's Company Partners with Major Investor for New Project

Absurd Ventures, founded by Dan Houser, one of the co-founders of Rockstar Games, has recently secured a major gaming investor and is gearing up to announce its new project.

It has been revealed that Absurd Ventures has become a strategic partner of South Korean game publisher Smilegate, known for Lost Ark and Crossfire. Together, they will collaborate on the creation of a new title, which they promise to unveil «soon».

«This collaboration with Smilegate was borne from a mutual respect & a philosophical alignment with founder Kwon, and the great passion he and his team bring to making AAA games. We both want to build interesting worlds and new player experiences», — said Dan Houser, commenting on the partnership with Smilegate.

Notably, the new project from Absurd Ventures will be the studio's third endeavor. Previously, they introduced the audio series A Better Paradise and the graphic novel American Caper.

Smilegate, in turn, finds the partnership with Absurd Ventures particularly beneficial, as the companies can exchange expertise to captivate both the Western market and the Asian region.

As a reminder, in 2020, Dan Houser left Rockstar Games and subsequently founded Absurd Ventures, where he serves as a producer and creative director.
