YouTuber intentionally crashed his plane in a real-life GTA stunt and now faces 20 years in prison

YouTuber Trevor Jacob intentionally crashed his single-seat plane in the fall of 2021 to get a lot of views on his channel. He parachuted out of it during a flight. The plane crashed in the Los Padres National Forest in Southern California.
Trevor Jacob and his friend removed the wreckage from the crash area. He also lied to investigators about the purpose of his flight and the reason for the jump, claiming that his engine had stalled. Law enforcement didn't believe his story. The blogger made a deal with the Department of Justice, but he still faces up to 20 years in prison.
Media compared Trevor Jacob's actions to GTA stunts, where players could leave a flying plane and cause it to crash.
