The Riviera is the pinnacle of the Buick luxury coupe family. The car was awarded extravagant style and a colossal power reserve. The designers were faced with the task of combining the dynamics of Ferrari and the respectability of Rolls-Royce. 1971 - another redesign. The model went back to its roots in a way, again getting the reverse-sloped front end always associated with the shark nose, but the back was made in the "boattail" style (boat stern) popular in the early 1930s, but not approved by everyone.

Модель Riviеra — высшее достижение семейства Buick в жанре шикарных купе. Автомобиль наградили экстравагантным стилем и колоссальным запасом мощности. Перед дизайнерами стояла задача объединить динамику Ferrari и респектабельность Rolls-Royce. 1971 год — очередной редизайн. Модель в каком-то смысле возвратилась "к истокам", снова получив передок с обратным наклоном, неизменно ассоциирующийся с акульим носом, однако задняя часть была выполнена в стиле "boattail" (корма лодки), популярном в начале 1930-х гг., но не всеми одобренном.
