The first-generation W638 model was launched in 1996. It was produced at the Vitoria-Gasteiz plant in Spain and positioned as a multi-functional van or small passenger vehicle. The first generation adopted a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout and was powered by the M111E23 2.3-liter inline-four naturally aspirated gasoline engine, which delivered a maximum power of 143 horsepower and a torque of 215 Nm.
Currently, the most common model on the market is the third generation, produced by Fujian Benz. Like the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, it is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The Vito focuses more on practicality and is often used in scenarios such as combined passenger and cargo transport. It is also quite popular in the modification market; its interior can be upgraded to a luxurious level through modification for business reception purposes. It features solid materials and emphasizes comfort, spaciousness, and care for passengers. Some models are equipped with a dual-screen setup, a multifunctional steering wheel, and 64-color LED lighting, creating a pleasant ambiance.
