Sawmill

A new worker named John is brought to the sawmill at the Panopticon, and during a break, the superintendent asks John to go to the local shop and buy some food for the workers. Arriving at the store, the main character meets an old man who tells him that he used to work at this sawmill and once he needed to leave work for a short while, when he came back to the sawmill, the old man did not find his team with which they cut the forest, according to him they "disappeared without a trace." John, not believing the old man's stories, goes back to the sawmill, where he sees that there are no workers anywhere. Later, he discovered a basement in one of the sawmill sheds, and in it John sees a terrible picture on the floor of all the dead workers, and only the foreman, barely breathing, tells John to leave here while he is still alive...
