The pistol was adopted by the Wehrmacht in 1938 under the name P38 (Ger. Pistole 38). It was produced not only in the territory of the Third Reich, but also in the territory of Belgium and occupied Czechoslovakia. Walter P38 was also successful with the soldiers of the Red Army and the Allies as trophy weapons and as a melee weapon.
