1969 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray
In the name of the third generation, the word Stingray (rocket) began to be spelled together. But that's not the point. The main thing in this car — design! The third Corvette is based on the 1965 Mako Shark II concept. The look created by David Halls is simply gorgeous! Muscular punching, complex plastic sides - this car is still one of the most beautiful! By the way, when creating this very plastic, David Halls was inspired not by anything, but ... by a fitted Coca-Cola bottle (designed by Raymond Loewy, who also became famous as a car designer)! Against the background of the design, you already somehow forget about the technical part, but it’s still worth talking about it. The car had the same suspensions as the C2, and the engines were also the same at first.
В названии третьего поколения слово Stingray (ракета) стало писаться слитно. Но это не главное. Главное в этой машине — дизайн! Третий Corvette основан на концепте Mako Shark II 1965 года. Созданный Дэвидом Холлзом облик просто великолепен! Мускулистые подштамповки, сложная пластика бортов — эта машина и сейчас одна из самых красивых! Кстати, при создании этой самой пластики Дэвид Холлз вдохновлялся не чем-нибудь, а… приталенной бутылочкой от «Кока-Колы» (автор дизайна — Рэймонд Лоуи, прославившийся также в качестве автомобильного дизайнера)! На фоне дизайна уже как-то забываешь о технической части, но всё же стоит рассказать и о ней. Машина имела такие же подвески, как и С2, и моторы сначала тоже были такими же.
