The interior, floor, front and rear were made from scratch.
The Declasse Merit Classic is based on the sixth generation of the Chevy Impala, one of the best selling passenger cars in the United States. Popular in the 1980s, the Merit was the base model of the full-size Declasse and was popular in use (including taxis and police cars), but was discontinued in 1985. After the break of Merit, only the top models continued to be called Premier Classic and Premier Classic Brougham until 1990.
