In March 2025, a Reddit user known as AMZxs announced that he would be bringing Midnight Club: Los Angeles to PC. The game was released in 2008 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The latter version will be the basis for an unofficial port. We decided to recall other races that Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive were involved in.

Maximum Roadkill (1995)

An adrenaline-fueled and very brutal survival race set in a post-apocalyptic setting. You are invited to get behind the wheel of a high-speed bike and reach the finish line first. At the same time, opponents can be attacked with firearms. The result is a kind of hybrid of Road Rush and Twisted Metal.

Death Track Racing (2000)

Death Track Racing, also known as Rollcage Stage 2, is another survival racing game with the ability to use various weapons. Take-Two Interactive published the PC version of the game. This project has an interesting feature — the wheels of the cars here are much larger than the body, so you can continue moving even if the car flips over. You can drive both on the track itself and on inclined surfaces, like in TrackMania.

Formula One 2000

A game based on the Formula 1 championship with circuit racing on sports cars. Take-Two Interactive published a version of the game for the Game Boy Color portable console from Nintendo. Outwardly, it resembles projects for the NES and noticeably lags behind Formula One 2000 for the first PlayStation in graphics and sound.

Aqua GT (2000)

Racing on high-speed boats on European rivers, including the Seine and the Thames. There are competitions during the night and day, as well as during high and low tides. The game was praised for its high-quality watercraft physics, but criticized for its monotony and lack of a damage system.

Smuggler's Run (2000-2002) dilogy

This game is about smugglers. You are asked to get behind the wheel of a car with illegal cargo and deliver it to the required point. Both law enforcement officers and aggressive competitors will stand in your way. Smuggler's Run takes place in an open world, so the player has room to maneuver. If the car's engine stalls, your hero will be arrested.

It should be noted that Rockstar published a PS2 version of Smuggler's Run, which received high marks. It has nothing to do with the unsuccessful project for Game Boy Advance.

Motocross Mania (2001)

Take-Two Interactive published the PS1 version of Motocross Mania. And it turned out to be much worse than the game that came out on PC. First of all, we are talking about the outdated graphics, which were no longer impressive in 2001. Otherwise, we have a standard motocross simulator that may only interest fans of this sport.

Midnight Club series (2000-2008)

And these are arcade races that are dedicated to the topic of street racing. It is noteworthy that the first part of the series was released in 2000, that is, before the first "Fast and Furious" (The Fast and the Furious) and Need for Speed: Underground, which popularized illegal races on city streets. At the same time, Midnight Club had its own features. For example, during the races you were not limited by transparent track fences, but could freely move around the metropolis. The main thing is to go through all the checkpoints. Motorcycles appeared in the second part, and extensive tuning options appeared in the third part.

A total of four games in the series were released. In addition, there was a special version of Midnight Club: Los Angeles for PlayStation Portable with the subtitle L.A. Remix. It differed from the project for Xbox 360 and PS3 in that it had an additional story mode, and the action took place in Tokyo.

Note that only the second part was officially released on PC.
