The recently released game MindsEye from Build A Rocket Boy has come under heavy criticism from gamers. Launched on June 10, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the project disappointed many users right out of the gate due to technical issues and unmet promises.

Players have pointed out not only major bugs and performance problems, but also the lack of the promised 60 FPS support on PS5 Pro. The backlash has been so intense that Sony, despite its typically strict refund policy, has started accepting refund requests for digital copies of the game. This move is rare for Sony, previously seen only in exceptional cases like the infamous launch of Cyberpunk 2077.

Unlike CD Projekt RED’s title, which was temporarily removed from sale after launch, MindsEye remains available in the PlayStation Store for now.

The developers at Build A Rocket Boy have not ignored the negative feedback and have already outlined their first steps to address the issues. The team has issued an official apology for the technical problems, canceled all planned sponsored streams, and promised to focus on improving the game. They’ve also shared a detailed roadmap for upcoming patches.

Hotfix 2 (expected next week):

  • Improved stability and overall performance;
  • Fix for the “frozen” vehicle wheels bug;
  • Patching geometry gaps in levels (for example, near the car factory).

Hotfix 3 (planned before the end of the month):

  • Further optimization;
  • Difficulty balancing;
  • Improved animations;
  • Enemy AI overhaul.

Build A Rocket Boy assures players that they are committed to bringing MindsEye up to standard. For reference, the project’s game director is Leslie Benzies, former president of Rockstar North and producer of the Grand Theft Auto series.
