Renowned Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has published a new article dedicated to GTA 6, revealing some details about the game that he has recently learned.
Here's a summary of what he stated:
- Rockstar has asked writers to be less harsh and aggressive towards transgender people and other minorities, who have often been the butt of jokes in previous installments of the series;
- GTA 6 is set to be the most expansive game of the decade and possibly the most profitable entertainment product of all time;
- Development began ten years ago but gained momentum after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2;
- A major leak in 2022 forced developers to return to the office for a five-day workweek;
- The project pushed the development team to their limits, requiring late-night work and creating an atmosphere of tension and aggression;
- The project has missed deadlines several times, but now Take-Two is confident that everything is on track, and GTA 6 will be released in the fall of 2025;
- The game will feature a massive online mode designed to generate steady revenue over a long period;
- Several executives were dismissed to improve corporate culture and prevent excessive employee burnout;
- Some publishers are holding off on announcing release dates for their games, awaiting Rockstar's precise timeline for GTA 6's release. Companies are wary of launching their projects at the same time as the new Grand Theft Auto, fearing tough competition.
It's worth noting that a new trailer for GTA 6 might be shown at The Game Awards 2024. The game is one of the nominees for the ceremony.
