Former GTA Vice City developer spoke about the mechanics of police pursuit

Players became interested in the principle of the appearance of police cars in GTA Vice City and decided to ask the game's former technical director Obbe Vermeij about it. He willingly revealed the secret with another game mechanic.
According to him, this usually happens by chance, but there are actually about five scripted points in the city. As soon as the player collected three wanted stars, cop cars immediately spawned in those places, which at a given speed drove right in front of the player and blocked the path or crashed into his car.
However, there are only a few such points in GTA Vice City, since the mechanics turned out to be too complex.
Earlier, Obbe Vermeil told how Rockstar solved the problem with slow loading of models in GTA 3.
