Trusted data miner Tez2 shared a funny fact about the role of Rockstar Games co-founder Sam Houser in the studio on the GTA forum. It turns out that he could have easily postponed the announcement of the GTA 6 trailer indefinitely as a joke to tease insider Jason Schreier.

Recall that this journalist enjoys the reputation of an authoritative insider in the video game industry. Much of what he reports is confirmed over time. In November 2023, he said that Rockstar was about to start a campaign to promote GTA 6 and release a trailer — a few hours before the official announcement. According to Tez2, in response to this, Sam Houser almost cancelled the planned date just for the sake of a joke.

There are other higher-ups like Aaron Garbut, Rob Nelson, Jennifer Kolbe, and others who influence the decision-making and sometimes keep him in check. I recall he wanted to push back the Nov announcement a week just to screw Schreier, but he was talked out of it.

However, Sam Houser usually has the final say in decision-making, Tez2 said. In addition, he controls the entire development process — for example, shortly before the release of the GTA 6 trailer, he personally visited all Rockstar offices. Rumors of his visit eventually reached Jason Schreier, confirming the upcoming announcement.

Earlier, Rockstar North updated the GTA 6 poster. It is likely that the studio is preparing to announce the second trailer.
