«We don’t want to be in the shadow of GTA 6»: Xbox is in no hurry with the release date of Doom and Fable
There is still more than a year left before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, but the game has already won one technical victory. Microsoft honestly stated that it deliberately left the release window for the new Doom and the relaunch of Fable open due to unequal competition.
As the head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty said in an interview with the Variety Strictly Business podcast, Microsoft fears not only possible delays in the release, but also the release of GTA 6:
«I think many across the industry are of course going to plan around GTA 6, and we're all looking forward to that game, which should be amazing. Certainly, everyone in the industry wants to make sure that we don't land in the shadow of someone else's big release, but we just need to keep options open».
At the Xbox Games Showcase, several trailers for the expected games were presented, including Doom: Dark Ages, Gears of War: E-Day, State of Decay 3 and other projects. If the new shooter about the Doom Slayer and Fable received the vague wording «in 2025», then other games were left without even an approximate release window.
Let us remind you that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released in the fall of 2025, but there is no more precise date yet.
