Former Rockstar employee thinks GTA 4 was too dark

Former Rockstar Games developer Obbe Vermeij admitted that he thinks GTA 4 is too dark and depressing for the series. In his opinion, such experiment was quite controversial.
He said this in an interview for the SaninPlay channel, where he previously expressed the idea that Grand Theft Auto 6 could disappoint fans upon release. Obbe Vermeij expressed his attitude to the atmosphere in the fourth part as follows:
«We made the [fourth part], and to me, it was a little too serious, too dark».
At that time, he even suggested that future games in the series would also become more down-to-earth. However, after the developer left, Rockstar again took a course on unlimited fun and satire.
By the way, Grand Theft Auto 4 recently received a new patch for the PC version, which fixed an old error.
