The mod is a balanced ReShade preset designed for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption and adapted for SDR displays.
The goals of this modification are:
Create a ReShade preset specifically designed for the PC version and configured for SDR images (HDR support may be added later).
Give your image a more modern look and feel, without overly altering it, using improved, tuned ambient lighting, improved motion, and sharpening.
Keep the brightness close to the vanilla version, increasing the contrast slightly, especially at night.
Tuned SSRs (Screen Reflections) to balance their usage without excessive grain or artifacts.
Use LUTs and color correction to improve the color palette, especially to eliminate the green tint in the vanilla version.
Recommended settings in the “Graphics” section of the game:
Shadow quality is “high” or lower.
The softness of the shadows is CHSS, but this is at your discretion.
“Spot” shadow blending.
Anti-aliasing: The author used AMD FSR 3 and native anti-aliasing, but you can improve performance using DLSS if you prefer. If using AMD FSR 3, keep the extra sharpening at minimum, as this preset uses native CAS, which looks better, but using both results in over-sharpening and a cartoonish look.
Motion Blur set to "Enhanced" - I've tried various motion blur options and found that Uber Motion + Enhanced works best in-game, while Vort Motion blurs the minimap and uses more resources.
Paste the file from the archive into the Red Dead Redemption directory (where PlayRDR.exe is located).
Launch RDR, press the Home key on your keyboard and select the installed preset from the list.
Then click on “Edit global preprocessor definitions”. The RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUt_IS_REVERSED variable will be set to 1, you need to change its value to 0.
