Open IV 4.0
In OpenIV 4.0, we have implemented a base level of support for Red Dead Redemption 2. First of all, there are currently no editing features implemented. With OpenIV 4.0 you won't be able to modify any RDR 2 files.
As this is our first release to support Red Dead Redemption 2, the features available are very limited. With OpenIV you can:
- Open and view RDR 2 RPF archives. (Not all filenames are available, see below)
- Open and view RDR 2 texture files (.ytd)
- Open and view RDR 2 META/PSO files (.ymt, .ymf, .yas, .ych, .ymap .ytyp)
- Open and play RDR 2 audio files (.awc)
- Open and view RDR 2 localization files (.yldb)
Support for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be expanded in future releases.
Support for RPF Archives RDR 2
A few things you need to know:
- New RPF8 archives don't have filenames, only hashes.
- It is possible to extract many filenames from the game. As in GTA V, RDR 2 contains a lot of META, XML and PSO files that store the names of files and archives. For a couple of archives, we already have the names of all the files.
We hope to add to the name base with each future update.
Support for RDR 2 META/PSO files
Unlike GTA V, in RDR 2 we take a different approach to supporting PSO files. Currently, you will be able to open and view all PSO files in XML form. However, for most of these files, many names and lines are missing. The format of the resulting XML is also not finalized yet, so the game will not be able to load these files in XML form, as you can do with some files in GTA V.
PSO files contain a lot of data that needs to be parsed, and many filenames can be extracted from them. We will do this in future updates. For now, this is just basic support for exploring these files.
In future versions we are going to merge our code to work with GTA V and RDR 2 PSO files, this will allow viewing all PSO files in GTA V and provide the ability to edit RDR 2 PSO files.
