M231 is an adapted version of the M16 rifle for firing from the embrasures of the M2/M3 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. The original M16 is too long to use it in the tight interior space of the BMP.

M231 — это адаптированная версия винтовки М16 для стрельбы из бойниц боевой машины пехоты M2/M3 Bradley. Оригинальная M16 является слишком длинной, чтобы использовать её в тесном внутреннем пространстве БМП.
