In 1971, the Crips (crips - cripples), a powerful gang that controlled more than half of the gang districts in Compton and about a third in Inglewood, began a war with other African-American gangs from the suburbs of Los Angeles, the largest of which were L.A. Brims, Bishops and Athens Park Boys.

The large black gang Piru Street Boys (also Pirus) was actually part of the Crips until 1972 and was called the Piru Street Crips. In the summer of 1972, a feud broke out between the Pirus and other Crips factions.

The Pirus gang, like other groups in the suburbs of Los Angeles, could not compete with the Crips gang, which significantly outnumbered them in terms of numbers, wealth and territory. And so in the fall, Pirus organized a meeting to which all the gangs that were attacked by the Crips were invited. At this meeting, the issue of creating a new alliance that could confront the Crips was discussed. bloods - bloody, red). Later, many other gangs that feuded with the Crips joined the Bloods alliance.

Separate groupings of the confederation (from 3 or more members) are called sets (English sets) or trays (English trays). Although the coalition only includes African-American gangs, individual sets are made up of both partially and entirely Hispanics, Asians, and whites. Whites can also be found in the main part of the gang.[1]

Just like the Crips, the Bloods coalition has its own slang and its own alphabet (English alphabet with modified characters). Using these symbols, gang members mark their territory with spray paint, leaving tags. In Bloods slang, the name of the Crips gang sounds like Crabs, and the Bloods themselves call themselves Crab Killaz, or simply CK'z.

The B-Walk (Blood-Walk) dance, which is an analogue of the C-Walk (Crip-Walk) of the Crips gang, also appeared among the gang. The B-Walk's difference is the altered leg movements and arm movements, which are practically absent in the C-Walk.[2]

After the Piru Street Boys left the coalition in 2004 due to internal disagreements, a truce agreement between the Bloods and Crips was adopted, but it can be considered formal.
