SVT or "Sveta", as it was nicknamed for its "capriciousness" was developed in the USSR in the 1938-1940s as a replacement for the obsolete ABC. It was very much appreciated by our fighters and by the Germans with the Finns, as it was, although "capricious", but accurate.
