Model VAZ-2105 Zhiguli / Lada Nova - rear-wheel drive four-door five-seater AvtoVAZ sedan. In 1980, the first-born of the "second generation" of rear-wheel drive cars appeared - the VAZ 2105 sedan. The model appeared as a result of a rather serious modernization of the previously produced VAZ cars of the "classic" layout. On the basis of the 2105 model, a little later appeared: the "luxury" sedan VAZ 2107 and the station wagon VAZ 2104. These models, together with 2105, eventually replaced the "first generation" models (with the exception of 2106). The VAZ-2105 model, in its design, almost corresponded to the European fashion of the early 1980s. This allowed the model to be sold in a number of European countries for many more years. Although in Europe such rear-wheel drive four-door five-seater sedans began to lose ground to front-wheel drive models already in the 70s. Since its inception (and even more so now), this classic sedan has not become prestigious for many car owners and, accordingly, has not become AvtoVAZ's most mass-produced product. Externally, the car received straight lines of body design, large rectangular block headlights front and rear, aluminum bumpers, fenders of fashionable then cut contours, camshaft drive with a belt, and not with the usual chain. The ventilation system differs from the previous ones by the presence of rectangular deflectors. Rear window with electric heating - standard! The fuse and relay box is located in the engine compartment.

Хотя в Европе такие заднеприводные четырехдверные пятиместные седаны уже в 70-х годах стали сдавать позиции переднеприводным моделям. С момента своего появления (а сейчас тем более) этот классический седан для многих автовладельцев так и не стал престижным и соответственно не стал самой массовой продукцией АвтоВАЗа. Это не помешало ему до появления переднеприводных ВАЗов считаться самой прогрессивной конструкцией. Внешне автомобиль получил спрямленные линии дизайна кузова, большие прямоугольные блок-фары спереди и сзади, алюминиевые бамперы, крылья модных тогда резаных обводов, привод распредвала ремнем, а не привычной цепью. Система вентиляции отличается от предшествующих наличием прямоугольных дефлекторов. Заднее стекло с электрообогревом - стандартная комплектация! Блок предохранителей и реле вынесен в моторный отсек.
