News papers
What does this modification represent?
- News newspapers about events related to the player or the game world;
- Working newspaper machines. Both the player and random passers-by near the newspaper machine can read newspapers;
- Sometimes newspapers can be found on the ground in places where people walk.
More details about the events that can be found in newspaper headlines:
- If the player is arrested by the police (in a city or rural area);
- If the player is shot by the police;
- If the player escaped from police pursuit (from level 2 and above);
- If the player has captured enemy territory (Gang War);
- After completing some missions, their consequences will also be written in the newspapers (Works only with natural progression of the game) :
- After the mission "Green Saber";
- After the murder of Officer Eddie Pulaski;
- After killing officer Frank Tenpenny (Game Finale).
Any event that will be written about in the newspapers lasts until the next day.
Pedestrians can be found at newspaper machines only after any event. Pedestrians will have several reactions when the player approaches:
- Just continue reading the newspaper;
- He will leave reading;
- Will start looking at the player, but will soon continue reading;
- Will start looking at the player, and then run away in panic (if the event is related to the player);
- It will start looking at the player, and then start attacking (if the event is related to the player).
The player can read newspapers at the newspaper machine or encounter them on the ground even when nothing has happened, but you will not read anything interesting in them.

- Now NewsVan is not such a useless car in the game, it will drive and follow the player at level 2 wanted. Inside you can see a man with a photo camera.
- Newspapers are paid. $1 on regular days, $2 on Sunday;
- Added animation and sound when buying a newspaper;
- Added 4 more newspapers related to story missions (Drive-By, Black Project, Breaking the Bank at Caligula's, Riot). Thanks KahnMan;
- The text of the newspaper with officer Eddie Pulaski has been corrected, now the text matches the game lore. Thanks gohan;
- On all newspapers, the headline has the “SAN NEWS” emblem, which connects the modification with the news car and helicopter, as well as with the game’s lore in general;
- All text is output to a .fxt file for users to edit or translate;
- Subtitles have been added to newspapers;
- Added translation into other languages: Russian (by gund), Portuguese (by KaiQ).
