A little about the monument itself:
The Gateway of India is a basalt arch in the Indo-Saracenic style with details typical of Gujarati architecture, which was laid on the Bombay seafront in honor of the coronation visit of King George V in December 1911
In connection with the First World War, the construction of the 26-meter structure was delayed and was completed only in December 1924. After India gained independence, the last British soldiers sailed from India through the gate, and in 2003, a bloody terrorist attack took place in the parking lot next to the gate .

It was erected to commemorate the landing in December 1911 at Apollo Bunder, Mumbai (then Bombay) of King-Emperor George V and Queen-Empress Mary, the first British monarch to visit India.

Ворота Индии (Gateway of India) - это базальтовая арка в индо-сарацинском стиле с деталями, характерными для гуджаратского зодчества, которая была заложена на морской набережной Бомбея в честь коронационного визита короля Георга V в декабре 1911 г.
В связи с Первой мировой войной, работы по возведению 26-метрового сооружения затянулись и были закончены лишь в декабре 1924 г. После обретения Индией независимости через ворота из Индии отплыли последние британские солдаты, а в 2003 г. на парковке рядом с воротами произошёл кровопролитный теракт.
