In 2007, the concept of the second generation Nissan X-Trail was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, and at the end of the year the production version of the car went on sale in Europe. The second generation X-Trail was built on the Nissan C platform, on the basis of which the Nissan Qashqai crossover was released a year earlier (2006). On November 17, 2009, the Russian division of the Nissan auto concern began accepting orders for the X-Trail crossover, assembled in St. Petersburg. In 2010, the model was restyled.

В 2007 году на Женевском автосалоне был представлен концепт второго поколения Nissan X-Trail, а уже в конце года серийная версия автомобиля поступила в продажу в Европе. X-Trail второго поколения был построен уже на платформе Nissan C, на базе которой годом ранее (2006) был выпущен кроссовер Nissan Qashqai. 17 ноября 2009 года российское подразделение автоконцерна Nissan начало прием заказов на кроссовер X-Trail, собранный в Санкт-Петербурге. В 2010 году был проведен рестайлинг модели.
