This file replaces the old square tank with a beautiful, Russian T-80.

A little history: the decision to create a gas turbine tank was made by the CPSU Central Committee and the USSR Council of Ministers on April 16, 1968. From this moment the history of the T-80 tank began. Already in May 1969, the new gas turbine engine was installed on a prototype tank. In 1970, the Kaluga Engine Plant was entrusted with the development of serial production of the GTD-1000T tank engine, developed by NPO im. V. Ya. Klimova.

The vehicle entered service in 1976 and became the world's first production tank with a main power plant based on a gas turbine engine.

Немного истории: решение о создании газотурбинного танка было принято ЦК КПСС и Совмином СССР 16 апреля 1968 года. С этого момента началась история танка Т-80. Уже в мае 1969 года новый ГТД установили на опытный образец танка. В 1970 году Калужскому моторостроительному заводу было поручено освоение серийного производства танкового двигателя ГТД-1000Т, разработанного НПО им. В. Я. Климова.

Машина принята на вооружение в 1976 году и стала первым в мире серийным танком с основной силовой установкой на базе газотурбинного двигателя.
