Mi-34

The Mi-34 (NATO codename: Hermit) is a multipurpose helicopter. The first prototype of the Mi-34 made its maiden flight on November 17, 1986 (test pilot Savinov B. V.). The helicopter was developed as a light training-sport helicopter to replace the Mi-1 and Mi-2 helicopters previously used for these purposes. Small-scale production of the helicopters began at the Arsenyev Aviation Plant, with subsequent refinement at the MVZ. Several of these helicopters were purchased by the Moscow police. They were also supplied to Kazakhstan and Nigeria, with more than 20 units produced. From June 22 to July 7, 2007, our helicopter sports team, HeliRussia Team, consisting of Mikhail and Yuri Kazachkov, with the support of the defense industry holding "Oboronprom" and the "Russian Helicopters" holding, prepared and conducted a unique European tour: for the first time in history, Russian athletes performed on the Mi-34 helicopter and won prizes in national championships in three European countries: the United Kingdom, Italy, and France.
