Rockstar Games has announced the acquisition of Video Games Deluxe. The Sydney-based studio responsible for the re-releases L.A. Noire, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, and the remastered Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will change its name to Rockstar Australia.

After working closely together over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia.
— Jennifer Kolbe, Head of Publishing, Rockstar Games

It is not yet clear what the new team will do. As a reminder, the studio was founded in 2013 by Brendan McNamara, one of the creators of the original L.A. Noire. In 2017, they released a remastered version of the game for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and VR, and later worked on updates for GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition after Grove Street Games. It's possible that Rockstar will eventually merge the new acquisition with another studio, as it did with Rockstar Vancouver.
