Former Rockstar developer Ben Hinchliffe has finally revealed the truth behind GTA 5's Mount Chiliad mystery. The mystery centers around a sketch at the cable car station, depicting the mountain with cryptic symbols and a UFO. For years, players have tried to decode this cryptic drawing — there’s even a dedicated Reddit community with over 40,000 members. However, this latest revelation might bring their investigations to an end.
Fans looking for a conspiracy are likely in for a letdown: according to Hinchliffe, there’s no real secret to uncover. Although he didn’t work on the specific location, Hinchliffe is confident that the developers simply created the mural as a playful way to troll players. “Obviously, there’s always a desire to put in these really complex Easter egg hunts and trails that the really dedicated players will follow. As with all Easter eggs, sometimes you just put them in to mess with people. They don’t actually do anything. You just mess with people, just to drive them a little bit crazy,” Hinchliffe explained. Hinchliffe also recently shared his thoughts on GTA 6, which he believes will astonish players. Take-Two confirmed yesterday that the highly anticipated game is set for a 2025 release.
