Many players with Creative SoundBlaster cards cannot select EAX, EAX 3.0, A3D and DirectSoundHW modes using Creative ALchemy on Windows Vista+ (Vista/7/8/8.1/10). The problem is in DLL redirection. The game communicates with DirectSound via mss32.dll (Miles Sound System library) which does not see ALchemy dsound.dll in the root of the game.
This patch fixes this problem in GTA Vice City, and makes it possible to select EAX and other sound modes.
- If you are using Creative Live, Audigy or X-Fi cards (Auzen, Onkyo, Gigabyte, etc. on the same X-Fi chip), make sure you have OpenAL 1.1 installed on your computer. (see https://openal.org/) - If you are using an X-Fi chip sound card (Creative, X-Fi, Auzen, Onkyo, Gigabyte, etc.), make sure you select "Game Mode" in "Control Panel" - If you want to use EAX, A3D with your own dsound.dll wrapper like IndirectSound or Realtek 3D Sound Back - use v1.0. - If you have any problems with v2.0, use v1.0 instead and try restarting your computer before doing so.
