In 1969, Chevrolet designers continue to improve the already sporty appearance of the car. The grille is now recessed deeper into the body, round headlights hidden behind it are segmented into three narrow strips each, updated rear fenders and lights give the silhouette a wider and squat look. The interior received a new dashboard, and more comfortable seats.
The number of available engines has been increased to twelve units. The most powerful 5.7-liter engine is now available in three versions - 325, 350 and 375 horsepower. The 375-horsepower Camaro opens the Indianapolis 500 race as a pace car, after which Chevrolet offers factory copies of this car. A white with orange stripes convertible, although offered as a replica of a pace car, often comes with a herd of 350 horses under the hood.
