The passenger car GAZ-13 Chaika appeared in 1959. This large seven-seater sedan replaced the GAZ-12 ZIM, becoming the new flagship of the Gorky Automobile Plant. The design of the car was inspired by samples of American manufacturers, trendsetters of the then automotive fashion. The design and construction of the Seagull was awarded the 1958 Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Brussels. A total of 3,179 cars were made, including 20 station wagons and approximately 7-8 convertibles. All cars were painted black, with the exception of one white "Seagull" presented to Valentina Tereshkova. The head of the Main Fire Department of Moscow had a red car, there are even green "Seagulls", but these are repainted copies. Produced until 1981.
