San Francisco news cameraman and just a good guy Peter Stanford, in pursuit of sensational material, accidentally (or not) films the death of a woman in a fire that started due to an earthquake. Yielding to the persuasion of a stranger, he sells this recording to the organizer and director of a snuff studio, and then, out of despair, begins to work with him, because after meeting such people it is impossible to get out of this business. Realizing what he has come to, Peter tries to fix the life of the son of this woman who died in the fire, who ended up in a boarding school, and the prostitute friend Nicole, hoping that something human from such “work” still remains in him.

Телеоператор службы новостей Сан-Франциско и просто хороший парень Питер Стенфорд, в погоне за сенсационным материалом, случайно (или нет) снимает смерть женщины в пожаре, который начался из-за землетрясения. Поддавшись уговорам незнакомца, он продает эту запись организатору и режиссеру снафф-студии, а после, от безысходности, начинает работать вместе с ним, ведь после знакомства с такими людьми выйти из этого дела невозможно. Осознав, до чего он дошел, Питер пытается исправить жизнь сыну этой погибшей в огне женщины, который оказался в интернате, и знакомой проститутки Николь, надеясь на то, что что-то человеческое от такой "работы" в нем еще осталось.
