Degtyarev in the Beryl-5M armored suit from S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Major Degtyarev is the protagonist of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. Alexander Alexandrovich Degtyarev was born in Pripyat in June 1978, but was forced to evacuate and leave his hometown at the age of seven due to the Chernobyl accident. After the Second Explosion, he again returned to the Zone at the call of his soul, gaining quite a lot of experience in stalking, which later helped him become an undercover SBU officer. After the failure of Operation Fairway, the purpose of which was a second attempt to seize the Chernobyl nuclear power plant under the control of the military after the failure of Operation Monolith, Degtyarev was sent to the Zone to find out the reasons for the failure of the operation. The Major was sent to the Undercover Zone. Unfortunately, communication with the center has disappeared, and the major has to act alone. During his stay in the Zone, the major has a clearly defined task: to find and inspect the crashed helicopters and the disappearance of their crews. After that, he refuses the staff position offered to him and leaves for the Zone as a permanent observer from the SBU.
