Optimized textures for San Andreas v1.1
SA Optimized Map v1.1 (texturas otimizadas)
Update 09/07/2021:
- Fixed all problems with replaced textures;
- Now the mod comes in .img files to avoid lags;
- Now includes all game textures with mipmaps;
- Now includes all PS2 vehicle, weapon, pedestrian and radar textures converted with Magic.TXD , which means less compression artifacts and some bug fixes.
Update 08/04/2021:
- Now optimization is available for the whole map (HD textures are not included);
- Fixed original "txd" for Los Santos not deleting "BLOCK" and "BLOCK2" due to a bug.
A modification that optimizes the textures of the GTA San Andreas map, reducing disk usage and speeding up its loading, saving about 20 - 30% of the RAM used during streaming.
What is the problem?
GTA San Andreas works with ".txd" files, which are texture sets. When more than one ".txd" file uses the same texture, it's a waste and a waste of memory, after all, it adds weight to the textures. To give you an idea, the "ws_rooftarmac1" texture is repeated in over 100 files.
What was the decision?
Junior_Djjr used batch scripts to identify and separate the most repetitive textures for Los Santos, and then the most repetitive textures for each region. Junior removed the most repetitive textures from the original ".txd" and moved them to a shared ".txd" file.
To do this, the author used a function that is not very often used in GTA San Andreas, but very often used in "GTA IV: txdp". For example, the "ws_rooftarmac1" texture, which used to repeat over 100 ".txd" files, now only loads once. If this texture is 1MB, it alone saves over 100MB of disk weight, load, and memory! Some textures from GTA III from Xbox and Manhunt were also taken and improved.
