In 1963, Jaguar began to assemble lightweight racing versions of the car with a 3.8-liter engine producing 324 hp, reaching a speed of 282 km/h. The coupe-type body was made of aluminum alloys, and the gearbox could be four or five-speed. Acceleration from standstill to 161 km / h took 10.8 s. The E-type took part in sports competitions, on it in April 1961, the racer Graham Hill (Graham Hill) won the first victory on the high-speed circuit in Walton Park. This model won at Reims, Brands Hatch and Silverstone, as well as in 1966 at a very difficult race of 2000 km, in the Andes in Bolivia.
