In 1969, the Dodge Charger was slightly modified. Exterior changes included a new center split grille and new taillights by designer Harvey J. Winn. A new trim line called Special Edition (SE) was added. It could be ordered separately or together with the R/T package, resulting in the R/T-SE package. The SE package added leather inserts on the front seats, chrome moldings, and wood inserts on the dashboard. A sunroof was added to the list of options, but it will prove to be a very rare option - approximately 260 cars sold. Total production in 1969 was about 89,199 units. In 1969, Dodge released two of the rarest versions of the Dodge Charger: the Dodge Charger 500 and the Dodge Charger Daytona.
