Following the stock market crash of gaming companies due to Google's AI Genie presentation, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained exactly how his company uses artificial intelligence. According to him, generative AI is not involved at all in the development of Grand Theft Auto VI — Rockstar is creating the game entirely by hand.

"As for GTA 6 — generative AI has nothing to do with what Rockstar Games creates. Their worlds are handcrafted. That's what sets their work apart. They are built from scratch: building by building, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood," Zelnick stated in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz.

At the same time, Zelnick doesn't deny the benefits of AI technology — Take-Two has launched hundreds of pilot projects with generative artificial intelligence that help save time and money on auxiliary tasks. But the company doesn't plan to create content using AI.

"Do I believe that tools themselves create great entertainment products? No, there's no evidence that this is the case, and it won't be in the future," the publisher's CEO added.

Zelnick once again confirmed confidence in the GTA 6 release on November 19, 2026, and added that "marketing activities will begin very soon." The company also doesn't comment on the impact of recent lawsuits with laid-off employees on the game's release timeline.
