Jason Schreier Says GTA 6 Still Isn’t Content Complete

Development on Grand Theft Auto 6 is still far from the finish line, according to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, who discussed the project in a recent episode of the Button Mash podcast.

"The last I heard, it was still not content complete. That is to say people were still finishing things up, still finalizing levels, and missions, and seeing what is going to make it into the game."

Schreier explained that the “content complete” stage typically comes after all major mechanics are in place but before large-scale bug fixing begins. Even then, developers often try to squeeze in extra details and improvements during the polishing phase.

Originally, GTA 6 was planned for release in 2025, before being delayed first to May 2026, and then again to November 19, 2026. However, Schreier noted that even this date isn’t fully guaranteed — though it appears more realistic than the previous ones.

"It’s really hard to say right now, and I don’t think anyone at Rockstar can tell you, with 100% certainty, that they will make it out in November".

According to Schreier, Rockstar simply can’t afford to release GTA 6 in anything less than perfect condition. Fortunately, the company still has some breathing room — Take-Two’s fiscal year ends on March 31, 2027, leaving a bit of a buffer should additional time be needed. That doesn’t mean a delay is imminent, but the option remains on the table. After all, Rockstar has never hesitated to postpone a launch in the name of quality.

In other words, GTA 6 is heading toward the home stretch — but its final release date still hinges on how quickly the studio can bring the game up to its trademark level of “absolute readiness.”

Meanwhile, journalist Tom Henderson holds a different view. He’s confident that GTA 6 will release on schedule — and has even shared his own prediction regarding the game’s likely price tag.
